Press Release – 2015 UAEPGA Dubai Open-Monday 2nd November 2015

Hosted by Arabian Ranches Golf Club

The latest event on the UAEPGA Calendar was hosted at Arabian Ranches Golf Club on Monday 2nd November with over 30 PGA Professionals taking to the 18-hole championship course to try capture the title of Dubai Open Champion for 2015. The event saw one of the best scoring of the year so far with 6 players shooting level par or better in excellent conditions.

The day went to Callum Nicoll, the newly appointed Director of Golf at Abu Dhabi, who carded five birdies and a solo bogey to take the title by two over his nearest opponent. Nicoll has brought his excellent form, that lead him to the PGA Order of Merit last year, to the last few events and moves up the table with his second victory this year. The Scot eased through the front nine in 34 shot and then repeated that score on the back side by picking up birdies on the 13th and 15th to sign for 68, four under par.

“Special thanks has to go out to all the staff hear at the club. The condition of the course was prefect for scoring and the event set up was fantastic. The UAEPGA are always happy to see Arabian Ranches Golf Club on our season calendar and we all are looking forward already to returning next year

In second place was Teaching Professional from European Tour Performance Institute, Tim Backhouse, who played some superb golf through the front nine with birdies at 2, 8 & 9 to cross two under par. This is where he would stay with bogeys at 11 and 14 Backhouse had to battle back. He had one last flurry with two final birdie at 16 and 17 to sign off for 70, two under par.

Third position saw three player shot one under par with Steven Munro (UAEPGA), Cennydd Mills (Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club) and Matthew Naylor (DG Golf) all sharing the spoils. Last prize went to Teaching Professional from the host club Scott Clelland who had one of the best fight backs of the day return in two under par to card level par 72.

The latest standing in the Order of Merit see Cennydd Mills, Callum Nicoll & Gavin Sunderland lead the way in the top three. The next event will take place in The Track, Meydan on November 15th with another top field of player guaranteed
